Northwest trip

I recently took a trip up to Oregon and Washington.  I drove around 3,000 miles, and sadly, it was all by myself.  It was fun though, I had many mini adventures along the way.  Most of them were good, some bad, but all in all, I’m glad I made the trip.

The reason I made the trip was to go see my younger sisters graduation.  I’m really quite glad I took it, even though money is kinda tight right now.  I saw a lot of good friends; great friends that I haven’t seen in forever.  There were quite a few people that I couldn’t get to see; friends that I really wanted to see, but due to time constraints I wasn’t able to.

From L.A. I went to Sacramento, spent the night there, then took off to Portland, spent a few nights there, after that I went to Bonney Lake (which is near Seattle).  I then spent the night at my grandmas old house, which was fun.  I got to see her and my uncle, both of which I dearly love.  I then went to my sisters graduation in Cannon Beach Oregon.  It was great!  I love my younger sis, she’s a great girl.  We watched “X-Men Origins” at the local theater.  Such an awesome movie.  If you like action movies with some romance involved, you’d probably like it too.  I wouldn’t say its on par with “Twilight”, but it is still a great movie.  However I might be a little bit biased since Wolverine is one of my favorite action heroes of all time.

After Hilary’s grad, I took off for Sacramento, which was a 10 hour drive.  After driving for about 5 hours I stopped by in Medford and hung out there for a bit.  I later stopped by at a rest stop and slept for about 10 hours.  Then I went to Sacramento, spent the night there with Nick and Nate Lander (which was really quite fun, those guys sure are hilarious, even tho they are quite disfunctional).  The day after that I was finally home!!!!

The feeling that I got when I reached my home street, saw my apartment, and good friend Greg on the balcony was priceless.

I went to the beach yesterday, near Santa Monica.  Two good friends came along, and it was quite a fun adventure.  The drive was great, but there were quite a few cars on the road.  I guess a lot of people had the same idea we did.  Driving in California reminds me of driving in the Philippines.  Quite a few people here don’t know how to drive, which baffles me since driving isn’t all that hard.  I guess some people aren’t cut out to be drivers.

Anyways, the beach was spectacular with not a cloud in the sky.  The beach we went to was slightly crowded, but it wasn’t bad.  I built a sand castle, swam in the ocean, and had a great time.

The ride back was nice, we took the scenic route on 101.  California is beautiful, with quite a diverse landscape.  Some parts are desert, some are mountainous, grassy, woody, and others are just plain nice.

We went to my good friend Aubreys house and had sushi.  Afterwards we went on top of the roof to gaze at the stars and talk.  It was great.

Hope your Saturday was as good as mine, and if it wasn’t, there is always next weekend.

California is GREAT!!!  I feel alive here.  Maybe its the sun, maybe its good friends.  Whatever it is, its working.  Life in Washington had its good times, but it also was quite depressing as well.

I have a great job (I’m a personal assistant), a sweet car (92 Celica), and great friends from Bible school and high school.  My job rocks.  No two weeks are the same.  Currently I am converting a book into an electronic format, which is challenging and sometimes frustrating.  My car is in great shape, and even though its not a GT, it can still move.  I have hung out with friends more often than in Washington, as I have some really good ones nearby.

I hope you are doing as well as I am, and if not, things will get better!!

Last week Greg Rascher and I explored a river nearby.  I spotted a blue tarp, draped like a tent.  Upon nearing the tarp, I saw that there was a tent underneath, I then shook the tent asking if anyone was inside.  No one was there, so I went in.  There was a air mattress, two back packs that contained a Bible, a book with poems and drawings, a notepad with addresses, a small jar with a little english writing, but it mostly had chinese.  two pens, a flashlight, two cough drops, dirty underwear, and a marijuana pipe, there were also two sleeping bag sacks, a sack of dirty clothes, and a light black jacket.  Greg was nervous about the guy coming back, so we left.

Greg said we should get a bunch of people and scare them at night.  I thought it’d be cool if the cops cought them squatting.  I prayed about it that night, asking God if I should scare them, call the cops, or do something else.  The next day I met the guy that lives there.   He was walking along the path, eating what seemed to be fried chicken in gravy.  I talked to him for about ten minutes, we talked about cooked mushrooms, school, the war, racism, and God.  I asked him if he believes in Jesus, God the Father, and the Holy Spirit.  He told me he believes in Jesus, the sacrifice, and God.  I invited him to come to our classes here at Ecola, and he told me he’d try.  His name is John.  He had dreads, and was wearing that black jacket (I think).  After we talked, I left, not turning back for the longest time, just so that he wouldn’t turn around and see me watching him.  I saw him going into this elk trail that would lead him to his tent.  After that, I heard a woodpecker, it flew away, and I saw another one.  I wonder if that means anything.  The experience greatly increased my faith.  Thats the only time I can remember when God directly answered my prayer and showed me the result.  I’m not going to scare him or call the cops, hopefully he will come to one of the classes here before its too late.

Today I got pulled over by a cop for the first time.  I was going 55 in a 45 zone.  He just gave me a warning tho.  Hopefully I’m more carefull.  I thought that going 10 over was fine, but I guess its not.  I’m going to watch my speed more closely now.

I also recieved a 1/2 demerit notice.  I now have three demerits.  I have to talk to the dean of men.  The other demerits were from being late, missing class (I was sleeping), and three times for sleeping.

This term I’m more sure of my faith, and I’m sure I’m not going to have any regrets, but I will miss this place and all the friends I have made here.

Sorry I haven’t blogged in a while.

This month I had my birthday.

I ate out at this place called bigfoots and my friends bought me a 32 ounce burger cuz it was my b-day.  I ate the whole thing in one sitting.

I hope this Bible school isn’t a waste.  I really want to get something out of it, but I feel like I’m not getting all I can out of it.  Like I really like some of the speakers, but I don’t find myself growing closer to God.  Oh well.  Over time I guess.  Just hope I have no regrets.  I don’t think I will.

Yesterday, as I was leaving Wendy’s, this old dude in a new Honda was motioning something to me. I thought he was mad that I didn’t let him go by. I stopped at the stop sign, and shrugged my shoulders. His response was holding his arm and motioning that I have been drinking. I then became very flustered because I was not intoxicated. I then shook my head, and drove off. He followed. The old man had his window rolled down, but I did not, so I couldn’t hear what he was saying. I then rolled down my window and yelled “You’re getting senile old man!” as I was doing this I was slowly drifting into the next lane, after correcting myself, I thought about how foolish old people are becoming these days. It wasn’t until I drove the road a bit that I realized he was motioning to me that I lost the cup of lemonade on the top of my car.

I felt pretty bad afterwards. Today I drove by the scene of the incident, but I couldn’t find the guy in order to apologize to him.

Alot has happened since my last post.  Right now I’m at my Grandmas for Christmas break.  I’m working at my old Clothing Warehouse job, which will end soon since they only need me for the busy season.

My car is leaking anti-freeze, oil, and diesel.  Hopefully my dads friend will fix it for free.  I still haven’t bought anyones Christmas present yet.  I’m kinda broke.  I shaved my head.

I had a great Thanksgiving. It was kinda weird that my parents weren’t there, but it was still good.  Everyone was just hanging out, no-one was fretting or anything.  I played Age of Empires 3 while people read and played card games.  Good family times.

After being at grandmas for a while Candice and I took a trip down to Oregon to visit my previous dorm parents the Vaughns.  I thought it would be kinda awkward, like we would just sit around and not talk, but that was the total opposite of what happened.  I had a real good time there.  Kelly Youngman was also there, so that was nice.  It was kinda awkward with their dog dry humping everything in sight.  Other than that, things were good.

Today I played in the snow for the first time in 8 years!!!  It’s crazy that its been that long.  I’m looking forward to sledding some more.  I might even try snow-boarding sometime when I get more money.

I took yearbook photos today.  I’ll post some up soon.  I bet you guys are gonna like ‘em.  Some more crazy photo goodness from Tyler Germaine.

I’m going to get my car fixed tomorrow.  It’s leaking diesel from the engine.  I’ve named my car (actually some girls did), her name is Phoebe.
